Eat Less, Freedom, and The Alexander Moment

Ben Wilson, host of How To Take Over The World

I had a conversation with Ben Wilson, the host of the How To Take Over The World podcast. Ben studies the great conquerors, businessman, military leaders, visionaries and artists of history to find the common denominators that we can apply to our lives.

Here are the 7 most important lessons:

  1. Vision and Quality

All great leadership comes to having a strong vision that can be articulated and sold clearly and a ruthlessly high standard of quality. Most people don’t have a vision so they will follow he who is convicted in his.

  1. Eat Less

The majority of great leaders Ben has studied are notoriously light eaters. Fueled not by bread alone, but by obsession. It’s not that they didn’t have strong appetites, but that they didn’t satisfy them. “A hungry lion hunts better.” Don’t satiate yourself.

  1. Go For Freedom

Go for freedom Freedom allows you to control what you work on. If you control what you work on then you can work on what you love. If you love it you will do it for a long time. If you do it for a long time you will get really good at it. Money will come as a result.”

  1. The Alexander Moment

Julius Caesar was 32 years old traveling in Spain when he came across a statue of Alexander The Great. He wept. By the time Alexander was Julius’ age, he had conquered the known world and Julius had done nothing noteworthy. He left Spain to return to Rome where he began his conquest.

May we all have this moment and patience enough to get to it. He was 32…

  1. The Dots Connect Looking Backward

Steve Jobs said, “You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward.” Keep moving forward toward a clear vision and have Faith that God will place the necessary footstones in your path.

  1. Why Is No One Copying You

If no one is copying you, why not? People copy people who do things that work. If you’re not being copied, ask yourself why.

  1. Hot or Cold, Never Lukewarm

“So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:16

Do not fall into the middle. The middle is where dreams and good men go to die. Go all in or don’t go at all.
